Fossarii Amenity Token Highlight

GRAVEDIGGER: What is he that builds stronger than either the mason, the shipwright, or the carpenter? OTHER: The gallows-maker, for that frame outlives a thousand tenants. GRAVEDIGGER: And when you are asked this question next, say “A grave-maker.” The houses that he makes last till doomsday.
William Shakespeare, "Hamlet," Act v, Scene I.
Fossor (Latin Fossarius, from the verb fodere 'to dig') is a term described in Chambers' dictionary as archaic, but can conveniently be revived to describe gravediggers in the Roman catacombs in the first three centuries of the Christian Era. The fossors from an early date were ranked among the inferior clergy of the Church.
Fossarii (plural for Fossarius) is an Amenity token to help you keep your valuable units onboard by performing a kind of pawn promotion move. Whenever your Knight gets killed, Fossarii will strip his body off his expensive equipment to hand it over to his brethren-in-arms.
Flip this token to swap your newly-deceased Knight token with any other copper or silver unit token on board: Knight will get his proper burial, but his weapons and armor will serve further.

The Inshallah Army Add-On Highlight

Today, we'll highlight the Add-On that is very distinctive from any other extra army set, for all those countless woes and suffering it will bring upon players when being put into game, scourging everyone with umpteen Seljouk, Turkoman, Mamluk and Arab units, including Siege Engines, Light and Heavy Cavalry, four different Ranged Unit types - and fearsome Saladin himself! If you found your crusading sessions lack grievance, drama, and PvP, or your Purgatorium looks too sad and unpopulated, you should add this Army to the Saracene Deck and dive right into a fascinating world of the massacre, grieving, and vendettas, and see why exactly the Crusades ended the way they ended!
An-Nasir Salah ad-Din Yusuf ibn Ayyub, known as Salah ad-Din or Saladin (1137 – 1193), was the first sultan of Egypt and Syria and the founder of the Ayyubid dynasty. A Sunni Muslim of Kurdish ethnicity, Saladin led the Muslim military campaign against the Crusader states in the Levant. At the height of his power, his sultanate included Egypt, Syria, Upper Mesopotamia, the Hejaz, Yemen and other parts of North Africa.
The Сrusader kingdoms consistently faced an enemy that significantly outnumbered them, and it is often this sense of "massive hordes" that dominates descriptions of Saracen armies. Yet while the size of Saracen armies was certainly a factor in their success, it was by no means their only significant feature. On the contrary, Saracen armies were extremely complex and understanding them better helps explain Frankish tactics.
Perhaps the most important yet often forgotten characteristic of Saracen armies was their ethnic diversity. The term "Saracen" simply means "Easterner" and referred collectively to the Muslim opponents of the crusaders. Yet while the use of this term is convenient, it plasters over and so disguises the ethnic differences within the "Saracen" armies. The "Saracen" armies included not only Arabs and Turks, the two largest ethnic groups engaged in warfare against the crusaders. They also included Kurds (Saladin himself was a Kurd), Nubians, and Berbers.
Furthermore, the Arab elements need to be sub-divided into Syrians, Bedouins, and Egyptians, and the term "Turk" actually covers a variety of Turkmenish tribes.
One element that was of mixed value were the jihadists. These men joined Saracen armies engaged in warfare against the crusader states for religious purification.
While often untrained and poorly armed, they were fanatical and often keen for a martyr's death in battle against the "polytheists." In consequence, these troops could be used for particularly dangerous tasks such as storming a breach in a wall or scaling a siege ladder.
To compensate for the generally low levels of loyalty and morale among the conscripts, Saracen leaders depended increasingly upon mercenaries. These were predominantly drawn from the nomadic tribes of the Asian steppes, but included Armenians, further adding to the overall diversity of the Saracen force.
Records of a 13th-century event in which "Greek fire" was used by the Saracens against the Crusaders can be read through the Memoirs of the Lord of Joinville during the Seventh Crusade. One description of the memoir says "the tail of fire that trailed behind it was as big as a great spear; and it made such a noise as it came, that it sounded like the thunder of heaven. It looked like a dragon flying through the air. Such a bright light did it cast, that one could see all over the camp as though it were a day, by reason of the great mass of fire, and the brilliance of the light that it shed."

On the Orders Locking and Cards Charging
– Tue, Oct 30, 2018 at 12:09:38 AM
Hi there, fellow Crusaders!
It's time to talk about locking the orders and charging your cards. As you know, we've planned to lock all orders in December, 'cause we want you to have enough time to confirm or upgrade your orders. That means the deadline for card charging will be near the end of December.
But we all know how treacherous the life of a Crusader could be, and we understand that it might be not convenient for some to keep this amount of money on your credit cards. So please, if you want us to charge your card before the deadline – just send us a message via Facebook, Kickstarter or on the [email protected], and we will lock your order and charge your card individually as soon as possible.
We wish you to feel as much comfort of being the part of this Noble Congregation as it could be.
