about 6 years ago – Thu, Dec 13, 2018 at 09:14:30 PM

In the beginning, when the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep, the City Quarter tokens in the game were very simple and had only three different types: poor, middle-class and rich, each presenting a single generic building picture.

Poor City Quarter (one coin yield)

Middle-Class City Quarter (two coins yield)

Rich City Quarter (three coins yield)
Rich City Quarter (three coins yield)

But during our breathtaking Kickstarter campaign, "The Pilgrim's Guide to Holy Land" stretch goal was unlocked upon reaching $25 000 in pledges, with "there will be Gardens, Palaces, Bazaars, and Workshops" promise. Behold ye!

Liturgia Divine Will Card Highlight
about 6 years ago – Wed, Dec 12, 2018 at 03:06:52 PM

A Requiem or Requiem Mass, also known as Mass for the dead (Latin: Missa pro defunctis) or Mass of the dead (Latin: Missa defunctorum), is a Mass in the Catholic Church offered for the repose of the soul or souls of one or more deceased persons. The Mass and its settings draw their name from the introit of the liturgy, which begins with the words "Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine" – "Grant them eternal rest, O Lord". ("Requiem" is the accusative singular form of the Latin noun requies, "rest, repose.")

Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine!

The Liturgia Divine Will card effect is an opposite to that of The Excommunicatio card for it moves them sinister souls in Purgatorium towards the salvation.

Excommunicatio Divine Will Card Highlight
about 6 years ago – Mon, Dec 10, 2018 at 01:59:51 AM

"Wherefore in the name of God the All-powerful, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, of the Blessed Peter, Prince of the Apostles, and of all the saints, in virtue of the power which has been given us of binding and loosing in Heaven and on earth, we deprive him and all his accomplices and all his abettors of the Communion of the Body and Blood of Our Lord, we separate him from the society of all Christians, we exclude him from the bosom of our Holy Mother the Church in Heaven and on earth, we declare him excommunicated and anathematized and we judge him condemned to eternal fire with Satan and his angels and all the reprobate, so long as he will not burst the fetters of the demon, do penance and satisfy the Church; we deliver him to Satan to mortify his body, that his soul may be saved on the day of judgment."

"So be it! So be it! So be it!"
"So be it! So be it! So be it!"

In Catholic canon law, an interdict is an ecclesiastical censure, or ban that prohibits persons, certain active Church individuals or groups from participating in certain rites, or that the rites and services of the church are banished from having validity in certain territories for a limited or extended time.

Formal acts of public excommunication were sometimes accompanied by a ceremony wherein a bell was tolled (as for the dead), the Book of the Gospels was closed, and a candle snuffed out — hence the idiom "to condemn with bell, book, and candle."

The Excommunicatio Divine Will Card is the greatest equalizer in game, for it brings the Papal Interdict upon everyone, instantly sending units from the game board right to the Purgatorium.

Richard the Lionheart Special Unit Highlight

Richard I, known as Richard the Lionheart because of his reputation as a great military leader and warrior. During the siege of Acra, Richard ordered to massacre 2,700 prisoners because he didn't want to be burdened by them.

He fought endless battles but found his death while besieging the puny and virtually unarmed castle of Châlus-Chabrol, being shot in the neck with a crossbow bolt by a ridiculous poor knight who reportedly had a frying pan for a shield.

  • The outstanding fighter, Richard presents Skull icons on every side of his token.
  • Any ranged unit would kill Richard with a single shot instead of wounding him first.
  • Richard can't end his moves next to a city (otherwise, he'll receive a wound).
  • Richard can drive the Refugees away from his tents.

The Capitularius Divine Will Card & The Hidden Stash Amenity Token Highlight!
about 6 years ago – Wed, Dec 05, 2018 at 11:27:52 PM

Even though it was proclaimed all those who had pledged to go on Crusade would be excluded from income taxation, many various imposts still were levied from crusaders' ill-gained assets: church tithe, ransom money, shipbuilding money, utterly unconstrained freewill donations to sovereign's needs, etc. Usually, tax collector (or the Capitularius) was a high-ranked clergyman, bishop or cardinal (generally, because those were the literate few).

"Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's"
"Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's"

Drawing the Capitularius Divine Will Card during the game means that new contribution is being imposed. Which, in turn, implies that Capitularius will take all the cash carried by the crusader units (only camp cash is secured). Discard these coins back to the bank.

Death and taxes are inevitable, but it doesn't mean you should not try to evade them if you can, so you could try to evade it by using the Hidden Stash Amenity token.

"No Taxation Without Representation!"

Flip this token when the Capitularius card is being played to stow all gold away and receive your fiscal self-exemption!
