Hortulanus the Alchemist Amenity Revealed!

Hortulanus, also known as Ortolanus, was a medieval alchemist. Little information exists about his life and identity. He is best known for his work entitled "Spiritus Quinte Essentie Et In Quo Elemento Habitat", composed before 1325.
It is dedicated to making a prodigious substance, the Quintessence (from "quinta essentia", Latin for "Fifth Element"), from a mysterious material called Argento Vivo, which happens to be wine. Hortulanus is the first author to relate alcohol and quintessence. According to his view, the quintessence would have a universal presence but is best obtained of some substances (ideally the wine). Ortolanus believes alcohol or quintessence is the hidden primordial heat in all material things.
Hortulanus know-how is high-octane Greek Fire. Flip the Alchemist Amenity token when using the Greek Fire to double its area of effect.
The smell of ethanol in the morning will, beyond any doubt, attract another local man of science - Meister Fritz the Engineer. Flip the Engineer Amenity token every time the Alchemist token being flipped.
In turn, Meister Fritz is always happy to reciprocate, so flip Hortulanus the Alchemist Amenity every time someone flips the Engineer token.
Flip both the Alchemist and the Engineer tokens whenever the Baccatio Divine Will Card is being played, and even the Pillory Amenity won't help you here: learned men are too rare and precious to be a subject to corporal penalty.

Rogerius the Surgeon Amenity Revealed!
– Wed, Sep 05, 2018 at 07:33:55 PM
Roger of Salerno, was also known as Roger of Palermo, Roger of Parma, Rogerius Salernitanus, Ruggiero Frugardi. He was the first writer on Surgery in Italy.
Surgery had a lower status than pure medicine, beginning as a craft tradition until Rogerius composed his treatise, which laid the foundation for the species of the occidental surgical manuals, influencing them up to modern times. His work, Practica Chirurgiae, (A Practise of Surgery) was an incredible work for the time in 1170. It was considered a classic for at least three centuries, and many of the surgical texts later associated with Salerno were probably based on Roger's own manuscripts and taken from the notes of pupils at his lectures.
Rogerius' work is clear, brief, and practical, it is also unburdened with long citations derived from other medical authorities. The work, arranged anatomically and presented according to a pathologic-traumatological systematization, includes a brief recommended treatment for each affliction. Rogerius was an independent observer and was the first to use the term lupus to describe the classic malar rash (hello, House MD!)
Rogerius the Surgeon Amenity token: on being flipped, it allows to instantly heal one wounded unit anywhere on the game board.
Rogeriusthe Surgeon is the only human darling to Sultan the Dog because every time Rogerius is done treating wounded he treats Sultan with delicious surgery leftovers! Unflip Sultan the Dog token for free every time Rogerius is being flipped.

Flagellant Amenity Token Revealed!
– Tue, Sep 04, 2018 at 12:09:24 AM
First, this Amenity token was meant to be the Plague Doctor. Those guys were super stylish: black leather, skull-like beaked masks...
...but it was too anachronistic as a matter of fact, for all of this fancy apparels were invented a few centuries later. Thus we've decided to give the doctor a more accurate medieval look:
But it didn't make us feel satisfied with what we had either. It still didn't look like something of Deus Vult. Everyone knows that plague is an act of God scourging people for their sins; no medicine will help you, but repentance and penance lead towards the salvation!
Flagellants are practitioners of an extreme form of mortification of their own flesh by whipping it with various instruments. The distinction of the Flagellants was to take this self-mortification into the cities and other public spaces as a demonstration of piety.
The practice peaked during the Black Death. Spontaneously Flagellant groups arose across Europe. However, enthusiasm for the movement diminished as suddenly as it emerged. When they preached that mere participation in their processions cleaned sins, the Pope banned the movement in January 1261.
Flogging a day keeps the Plague away! Flip this token to negate all harm caused to your units by Pestis (Plague) Divine Will Card effects.

"Popular Crusade" Add-On First Sneak Peek: Marauder Unit
over 6 years ago
– Sat, Sep 01, 2018 at 12:09:06 AM
The People's Crusade was a popular crusade and a prelude to the First Crusade that lasted roughly six months from April to October 1096. Led primarily by Peter the Hermit with forces of Walter Sans Avoir, it is also known as the Peasants' Crusade, Paupers' Crusade or the Popular Crusade as it was not part of the official Catholic Church-organised expeditions that came later.
In the late spring and summer of 1096, they destroyed most of the Jewish communities along the Rhine in a series of unprecedentedly large pogroms in France and Germany. Then their assaulted the Hungarian city of Zeman, killing 4,000 locals and pillaged and burned Belgrade on their way to Byzantine. The whole army was destroyed by the Seljuk forces of Kilij Arslan at Civetot, northwestern Anatolia, in less than three months after arrival.
Marauder is the unique unit from the "Popular Crusade" army add-on. It's similar to the Pilgrim regarding its combat qualities in a healthy state but is utterly defenseless while being flipped. But, on the other hand, Marauders can carry 2 coins normally and 3 coins when flipped.

"Inshallah" Add-On First Sneak Peek: Camel Archer Unit
over 6 years ago
– Thu, Aug 30, 2018 at 11:25:54 PM
The Old Testament shows how Joshua fought the Amalekites who used camels for their archers. Gideon also fought against the Midianites and their camels during the time of the Judges.
Darius III of Persia who ruled from 336 BC to 330 BC was known to counter Alexander the Great's attacks with camel-mounted warriors.
Saladin, the first sultan of Egypt and Syria and the founder of the Ayyubid dynasty, who led the Muslim military campaign against the Crusader states in the Levant, was known or rather believed to use camels as a substitute for other ways of transport, such as the more common horse.
Camel Archer is a unique Saracenian mounted archer unit from the new add-on "Inshallah" featuring the army of Salah ad-Din. Camels are more resilient in desert warfare, so when the Camel Archer unit is the last unit alive in a band, you can flip it to attach to any other Saracenian band on the game board.
