The New Stretch Goal Unlocked – Assassin

Urbi et Orbi!
Tonight we've reached $20,000 in pledges and thus made it to 7 Goal Points, which, in turn, brings another new unit on a game board, this time - a Saracenian one: meet the Assassin, the deadliest killer in the game!
The name "Assassin" is often said to derive from the Arabic word Hashishin or "users of hashish" and is commonly used to refer to an Islamic sect formally known as the Nizari Ismailis. Lacking their own army, the Nizari relied on these warriors to carry out espionage and assassinations of significant enemy figures, and over the course of 300 years successfully killed two caliphs, and many viziers, sultans, and Crusader leaders.
The Assassin unit masters deadly melee attacks as well as ranged ones, and even being gravely wounded he won't lose any of his combat abilities. Technically, in game terms, his combat power outdoes even the one of a Siege Tower. The Assassin can attack at ALL directions simultaneously spending just ONE move. Thus, if four Crusaders surround the Assassin, it won't end well for any of those.
"A well-known legend tells how Count Henry of Champagne, returning from Armenia, spoke with Grand Master Rashid ad-Din Sinan at al-Kahf. The count claimed to have the most powerful army, and at any moment he claimed he could defeat the Hashshashin because his army was ten times larger. Rashid replied that his army was instead the most powerful, and to prove it he told one of his men to jump off from the top of the castle in which they were staying. The man did. Surprised, the count immediately recognized that Rashid's army was indeed the strongest, because it did everything at his command, and Rashid further gained the count's respect."

The New Purgatory Board Sneak Peek

The Purgatory
The Purgatory is the place where dead units go. This multicultural and inclusive realm accepts everyone, regardless of race and confession. When a new sinister soul enters the hell's mouth queue, it moves all its predecessors along all the torments of hell, one step closer to salvation. Yes, there is a salvation for everyone, and every soul returns back to its owner right after passing the… uhm… the hell's other maw, let’s put it this way.
Thus, having your best knight back from down there will take the lives of 9 others to push him out.
There also are numerous ways to speed up or slow down the Purgatory queue, such as:
tapping the Chapel Amenity will make the soul swap places with a neighbor in front
drawing the Liturgia Divine Will Card will move all souls 1-3 steps forward
drawing the Anathema Divine Will Card will send three foremost units to the very end of the queue
drawing the Indulgentia Divine Will Card will send three last souls to the very head of the queue
using some of special abilities
many more to come in the add-ons!
The first version of the Purgatory board was a 3x3 square, but during numerous tests, it turned out that it was of truly hellish ergonomy: every time a new soul entered, players had to rearrange nine cards, making the Purgatory a more excruciating torture for players themselves than for their units.

Stretch Goals Announced!

Urbi et Orbi!
We’ve been asked repeatedly about stretch goals and finally, here we are. All goals are put on the table, and every checked cell will give us one goal point, and with every new point earned a new reward will be added to the game box. Yes, we admit: it ran a bit late... but it came non-empty-handed because we’ve already reached a bunch of goals while illuminating the goal list itself! So we start today already having three points, which immediately brings in THREE brand new unit types to each army!
Pavisier
Pavise: large, square and convex shield with a prominent central ridge, held in place by the pavisier or sometimes deployed on the ground with a spike on the bottom. It takes both hands to operate a pavise, thus pavisiers are unable to attack but they maintain good defense even when wounded. Having a pavisier as a middle unit in your band is the best way to prevent it from being cut in half and therefore dispersed.
Archer
Archers, Crossbowmen, and Slingers can make it rain with bolts, stones, and arrows, but become an easy prey when it comes to melee combat.
Horseman
This new kind of units brings the heavy cavalry to action. They’re not so good in defense, but they have a “Charge” ability, allowing them to ram through their foes’ shielded sides on the full gallop.
We’re going to go live on Kickstarter on Wednesday night and stream another game to show you these new units in action! Stay tuned, check the updates, there’s more amazing news to come!
